A veterinarian-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit

Dignity for horses. Affordable care for the pets we love.

The George Project is a veterinarian-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization built in phases. We're starting with low-cost, dignified euthanasia for horses whose people can't afford it — and growing toward vaccination clinics, a full-service pet clinic, and a horse rescue where quality of life always comes first.

Donations are processed securely by Zeffy.

Our mission

When care is out of reach, animals pay the price.

Veterinary care has become impossibly expensive. For a horse owner facing the end of a beloved animal's life, the cost of humane euthanasia can be out of reach. For a family with a sick dog or cat, a single bill can mean giving up a pet.

The George Project meets those moments with low-cost, compassionate care — starting with horses, and growing to the dogs and cats that keep so many of us company.

  • Low-cost care for horses, and the dogs and cats that keep families together.
  • Built in phases, as donations, grants, and capacity allow.
  • Led by a veterinarian, with a second veterinarian and veterinary technicians on our board.

How we'll grow

A roadmap, built one phase at a time.

Each phase depends on funding and our ability to grow. We move forward as donations, grants, and the community behind us allow.

Starting Jan 1, 2027Phase 1

Low-cost euthanasia & evaluations for horses

Low-cost, dignified euthanasia for horses owned by seniors 70 and over, people in hardship, and horses pulled from auction in need of immediate euthanasia. Prior to euthanasia, every horse is evaluated by a veterinarian to be deemed ethically eligible. Low-cost general evaluations for horses pulled from auction within five days.

Phase 2

Low-cost dog & cat vaccination clinics

Affordable vaccination clinics for dogs and cats, so preventive care stays within reach for the families who need it most.

Phase 3

Full-service dog & cat clinic

A full-service clinic for dogs and cats, subsidized by donations and grants so everyday people can keep the pets who depend on them.

Phase 4

Horse rescue

A farm devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses — where a veterinarian's judgment about quality of life is final.

Why us

A veterinarian's judgment, at the center of every decision.

Every decision at The George Project comes from a veterinarian first. We're built so care is never delayed, and so an animal's comfort and dignity always come before anything else.

Veterinarian-run

Led by a veterinarian, with a second veterinarian and veterinary technicians on our board — so care is never delayed and decisions come from the people most qualified to make them.

No middleman

A veterinarian's judgment guides every step, directly. There's no one standing between the animal and the care it needs.

Quality of life, first

When a horse's quality of life can't be restored, we choose comfort and dignity. We won't ask an animal to endure painful procedures that won't meaningfully improve its life.
